eye rolling

Shortly after my 16 month old grandson turned 1 year, his eyes started rolling back in his head for a few seconds 5-6 times a day.  We took him off gluten and milk and it got better for a few weeks, but he is doing it again.  He had a normal EEG and MRI and doctors do not know what is causing it.  At first it looked totally uncontrolled.  Now he usually shakes his head when he does it, or rubs his eyes or sticks a finger in his eyes when he does it as if his eyes are bothering him.  It is very disturbing to see.

Hi,

My daughter has just started doing it. I have been doing some research and found out that this might be called as: Paroxysmal Tonic Upgaze of Childhood

Here are my notes so far on it:
Paroxysmal Tonic Upgaze of Childhood/(Ouvrier-Billson syndrome?)

Links:
http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/medical/paroxysmal_tonic_upgaze_of_childhood.htm
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17884759

Some of the symptoms of Paroxysmal tonic upgaze of childhood incude:
> Periodic upward gazing eyes
> Periodic neck flexion
> Rapid downward eye movements
> Normal horizontal eye movement

Physicians I need to verify with:
> Her doctor
> Pediatric neurologist (blog suggestion)
> Pediatric ophthalmologist (blog suggestion)

our daughter is 18 months old. She started shaking her head around which everyone said was normal. We even saw other lil friends of hers do it. She is now doing this with eye rolling. Then put her neck backwards looking behind her. She will twitch a lil bit when she is watching TV or relaxing. She seems to repeat things over and over till we ask her to stop. She will throw her hands around out of no where. She rolled her eyes and threw her neck back tonight at dinner over 6 times...ANY THOUGHTS??

Epilepsy? my brother and his daughter both have epilepsy and that was one of the things they would do when they were having a small seizure. from my understanding of EEG do not so seizure unless you are having one at that time. my neice had the first eeg come back normal the second so seizures and a third normal and just got back from a 4 day stay at children's hospital in ar where they watched and monitored her 24 hours a day and she was having seizures.
