sporadic stomach pain

My son is 8 years old and in the past 2 weeks has doubled over in pain from his stomach at dinner 3 times. He gets nausea with it but never throws up. All three times he has eaten different things and has no allergies to anything. The first time the pain lasted a couple hours. We took him to the er and his X-rays were normal but his monocytes were up in his blood work. Also the Dr said he had a lot of air. The other two times it lasted about 30 to 45 minutes. What could this be?
