54 and starting to have prolapse issues again after surgery

Hello all,
I am a 54 yr. old woman who has 7 children.  I had a rectocele and cystecle (sp?)  I had an operation and also had a bladder sling put in at the same time along with a partical hysterectomy.  Once I got home and recovered the pain came back so I went to another new doctor who did another operation and fixed the pain.  Once in a while I would experience (maybe 1 time every other mo.) some pressure and burning pain.  Mostly after working out.  Now it is all back again.  Hemoroids, pressure and burning pain when I do squarts or lundges.  I also work as a nanny for a 2 yr. old who is now getting kinda heavy.  I know I'm getting older (sux) but I am wondering if maybe more stuff is heading south.  Are these operations for good or do others have them done multiple times?  Seven kids is a lot and my Dr. said it looks like world war three down there lol..  Thanks in advance for any advice,  Chicosmom

Hi there
Did you have a Urogynecologist do your operations?
Did you have the top of your vagina suspended when you had your hysterectomy?
Any heavy lifting including weight lifting, and lifting heavy children etc it contraindicated for prolapse pre and post operation.  I am not surprised you have having pain and pressure after working out with squats and lunges.  Some women can do lunges when instructed by a women physio therapist who can show you how to do them carefully within safe limits for you ( if this is possible for you to do safely) but without specific training with a womens physio I would not do any lunges or squats.  Your body is telling you that doing this is not good for you operations/prolapses etc.,
Yes, women sometimes have repeat operations and this is more likely if you dont look after yourself and avoid contraindicated activities.  Avoiding constipation is also important as is avoiding anything that increases inter abdominal pressure.  So no stomach crunches and planking etc.,
Consider seeing a Urogyne for an opinion of where you are now and ask to see a good womens physio therapist to make sure you are strengthening the Pelvic Floor and not putting pressure on this as well as your pelvic organs.
Please let us know how you get on.
