Low back pain 7 months after POP sx

Hi, I have posted questions on the forum before and after my POP sx. Not sure if you remember me or not. I have started to have increased low back pain. Sometimes it is worse than others. It is close but not quite at the tailbone area. Could this be from the sx. I'm thinking where the mesh is attached? Is that possible? Pain at times seems to be worse when I need to have a bowel movement. Thx, Meldoy

Low R, sometimes L back pain sounds more like bowel issues than complications from POP surgery. It's good that constipation is not an issue. Since there's no mesh inside, that is not an issue. Sometimes scar tissue and adhesions can occur that can cause discomfort. When the fascia gets bunched up, muscles and soft tissues can not move around freely. I don't think this is anything related to a complication types scenario  but if the pain is there on a regular basis, I'd suggest checking with urogyn who did surgery ( a call to her office to talk to NP should be able to guide you with whether or not you need to go in to get checked)  and then consider checking out myofascial release therapy-this treatment is specific to releasing scar tissue and adhesions-I was shocked at how well it works when I checked it out. If you decide you want to check this out and don't know how to find one give me a shout-I have a list of the ones who specialize in pelvic floor.

Hi Sherri, A Urogyn did the sx in Baltimore, it was done robitcally. She repaired Vag Vault prolapse, cystocel, rectocele, mesh was also applied to urethra for incontinence (of which I had to go back and have another procedure using my own tissue on urethra because the mesh procedure was not sucessful-incontinence actually got worse). I dont have problems w/constipation. I take fiber daily as well as a stool softener. The pain low back right around the pelvis, mostly R side but does hurt to the left as well, somewhat. Sometimes it is pretty painful, some not so much, but always there. Hope this helps! Thx, Meldoy

I remember your name but can't remember the details of your backdrop. Please send in more specifics on your surgery to refresh my memory (types of POP repaired, did urogyn or gyn do repair, post surgical flow). Typically after 7 months you should be well into heal curve and tailbone pain is not an issue I hear about-that is quite low for mesh attachment. Can you send in more detail on exactly where the pain is? Do you have problems with constipation? Sometimes adhesions or scar tissue can create some problems with fascia and myofascial release therapy can be helpful. Once I know details again I'll be able to give a better idea of what is going on.

Going to have this transferred to POP forum.
