Transvaginal mesh problems!!

I am now facing my second surgery to fix my mesh because it is going through my vaginal wall. But i had an experience a couple of weeks ago that i was wondering if anyone else has experience. I was in the bathroom getting r=dressed bent over a little and got the worst pain i have ever felt. I could feel something turn completely over inside of me on my left side about the height of my belly button. I had to call my husband to help me cause i was bent completely over from the pain and the pulling feeling i was having. he had to help me sit down after 5 minuts or so of setting bent over the pain started to ease and i could start to stand up again. But i am still having sharp pains in that spot of and on and some cramping once in awhile. I was wondering if any other ladys that have had a mesh implant experienced anything like this. I am afraid that my mesh has gone in to my organs. It has already gone into my bladder a little and was repaired in my first surgery.

Hi, have you had any MRI or ultrasound testing done?  Maybe your concern of mesh erosion into your organs can be identified with these tests.  It sounds as if you are getting closer to diagnosing some of your problems.  What does your urogyne think about erosion in your organs?  Are you comfortable with his diagnosis and revision surgery?  Sometimes it is hard to know exactly what may be the cause of a sympton or when it started, sort of like what came first the chicken or the egg.  I can imagine you just want answers especially since you are in pain.  Thanks for updating and please still continue.  Good luck

we ll only new info i have is that i am also deficient severally on vitamin d my family doc thanks i could have lupus. go to a rheumatologist friday

Perhaps you will be finally getting some answers soon.  My daughter had positive ana when she was younger.  There were no other clinical signs or tests that were positive.  Nothing developed from her positive ana, thankfully.  I say this because I want you to know that positive ana doesn't automatically mean an auto immune disease.  I am very interested to hear how things go, please keep me posted.

well today i found out tat my ana cames out positive so more test!!

Some of your health conditions may well be crossing over with each other in terms of pain.  As summer59 says, it would be a good idea to speak to your Dr about further tests to clarify the reason for your pain and also to look at any errosions issues to see if there is any relation between the two issues and to give further insight.

Hello, I am so sorry that you are suffering so much.  It especially hard when you don't know why.  Since you are dealing with so many different issues it is hard to find the definitive answer.  I see that you go to a urogyne who should be able to give you help.  I have heard that mesh can erode into your organs.  The fact that you already had one surgery  and are facing a second to remove mesh may be related to your new pain.  I suggest that you talk to your doctor about an abdominal/pelvic MRI or advanced ultra sound for diagnostic purposes.  I researched mesh before I had my surgery three months ago.  Personally spoke to a woman who was having surgery to remove mesh that had eroded into her organs.  It can be a very intricate surgery and you need a very qualified surgeon who has done this type of surgery frequently.  Yes, mesh removal surgery is not uncommon.  Please get some diagnostic testing, hopefully that will bring you some answers you need.  Please keep us posted and good luck to you.

I would also like you to know I have been diagnosed with endometriosis, small fiber neuropathy, severe incontinence and chronic pain syndrome. I have read that some ladies suffer from nerve damage due to this mesh. I was wondering what your thoughts on this is. I had a hysterectomy when i was 29, they put in a mesh sling to hold my bladder up  and a sling on my urethra about 3 years ago. I had one revision surgeon in april of 2012, I am now scheduled for a second in feb. I did post on several of the ask the doctor side. Thanks

Hi there.  I am very sorry to hear you having mesh errosion problems and also the pain in your abdomen as well.  I have not had mesh but do have more than one type of POP and also bowel problems as well and do hear from ladies who have had pain in different areas of their abdomen due to POP on its own as well as mesh on its own or both problems together.  Sometimes you can get pulling with mesh and nerve issues etc and in order to clarify exactly what is goin on your will need a qualified examination from a good Urogyne.

I assume you had a cystocele operation with the mesh.  Can you see your Urogynecologist asap to check this out?  You can also see your Dr as well to log this with them in case there are any seperate issues going on as well.  When do you expect to have your next procedure?
