Scar on face a hideous site!

Hello I am a 26 year old male and have as scar in the crease where the nose meets the cheek on the left side of my face. It's very unsightly and many people stare when I'm out In public which makes me extremely self conscious and depressed at times. It has hendered my attempt to meet women as I feel ugly and going to see family a nightmare.

I got the scar about two years ago in a car accident where a rigid piece of the dashboard cut the side of my face and fractured my nose. I was taken to the hospital where the doctor put a few stitches along the side of my nose and gave me a few painkillers and told me to be on my way. After a few weeks the dead tissue around the scar started to harden and raise a bit above the skin. I went back to my doctor who told me there was nothing further he would do and to let the scar heal. It's been two years and the scar still hasn't gone away.

Please, what can I do to lessen the appearance of this hideous scar?

How can I cover it up?

Will it naturally go away with time?

Any advice will do

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
For such a scar, no topical treatments are effective and a cosmetic surgery done from a good plastic surgeon would be helpful. My sincere advice is to get it done from a plastic surgeon. It would be quite useful.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Hopefully an expert will answer your question.

Personally, I want to say that I'm having a hard time imagining a scar of the kind you describe being hideous.  I kind of find scars interesting on men.

As for it getting better, I don't know.  There are products, like BioOil, which allegedly improve the appearance of scars, with continued topical application.

A cosmetic doctor could possibly perform a scar revision...something offered to me when a mole removal scar on my face ended up being more pronounced than anticipated. (I opted to live with it the way it is.)  Not being urgent care, a more precise revision, with cleaner edges, might result in a finer scar.  But only a cosmetic surgeon/dermatologist could give you a reasonable assessment.

Whatever you decide, best of luck!  :D
