PCOS Support Desperately Needed

Hi

I am looking for some support with PCOS. I came off the ill last May due to recurring thrush. I have suffered with so many problems previous to this, one of them being erosion of the womb. I had my period after my last lot of pills but after that i had nothing for 6 months. My doctor sent me for some blood tests and a scan which came back positive for PCOS. I was utterly devastated because i wanted to try for a baby so much and after all the trouble i had had this was yet another problem! My Doctor prescribed me clomid and told me it would make me ovulate and i would bleed after 28 days. The first month i had my period on day 29. The next month i came on day 42. The third month i had nothing and my doctor just basically said you have to wait. I did so much research and every single woman said they were prescribed metfomin or provera. I went back to my doctor and told her this and in the end i was referred back to the hospital and given provera. My new Gynaecologist said she would like to do some fertility tests to see if i am actually ovulating. She said to take Provera for 5 days and said i would have my period after 2 days. It has been 5 days now and nothing! i am so upset and getting so stressed out because nothing is working and i cannot have these tests until i have a period! there must be something very wrong if a drug that is for bringing on a period is not even working!

Please can you share any thoughts you may have because i really don't think i can take anymore heartache

thank you

It doesn't sound wrong at all and I can relate to the frustration. I've had several back surgeries so I can't even work out to drop the pounds. However cutting back on Sugar the last couple weeks I lost 4 1/2 lbs. I was told sugar makes pcos worse because it's insulin driven I'm told. Yesterday I found some Atkins bard at the store which were not bad at all, in fact I'm going to get some more for my husband and I. They only have like 1-2 grams of sugar.
I'm here to listen in you need to vent or ask any questions, it's tough but we can get this under control.

I called my doctors office today bacause still no period. I took provera 10 mg for five days. He told me to give it ten days after my last pill if I don't get it by then I have to go in for an ultrasound and labs. I can relate its very frustrating and you go in thinking one thing and something else is wrong. What I'm learning to do is go to the doctor is clear my mind of all thoughts of what could be going on with me. That way I don't feel so floored when they tell me what's going on with me. I don't know anyone with this problem either so nobody can relate to me. Hang in there and I hope you get resolution soon:)

thank you, i am trying my best not to stress but it always seems to be another hurdle in the way everytime i get over one. i thought that this provera would help me get my period  i can have the tests done but because my doc said i should get one within 2 days i am getting stressed. i suppose i should leave it at least a week, i used to always come one late when on the pill so it may be the same with this. it's just so hard having to wait all the time, everytime i go theres something else they have to test and they say come  back in  3 months! what makes it hard as well is that i dont know a single person with PCOS, all i have is forums like this, which do help so much but it would just be lovely to speak to a friend who is going through the same thing. xx

Hi there!
I know you probably don't want to hear this but you've got to stop stressing, that in itself can delay your period. I have pcos as well. I take metformin 850mg. I have started to see an acupuncturist lately twice a week, I'm to cut my sugar intake drastically. In Feb I had 3 embryos transferred of which none took and lucky me got the news on my birthday this yr. I had a period Feb19 th and nothing since. The nurse at the fertility clinic says that the mess can mess with your normal cycle. I went in had some bloodwork done and an ultrasound. The doctor found a cyst preventing my period. He said to wait a week and still nothing I took provera and still nothing but it's only been a couple days.
What I'm trying to say is maybe your body is reacting to the clomid? You may have a cyst or something? You may be stressing idk. Make sure you keep in contact with your doctor every few days. It's their job to help guide you thru this problem. If you feel your not getting answers get a second opinion. You can still get pregnant with pcos. I'm not familiar with what your eroding uterus condition is. I was born with an abnormal uterus and had to have surgery to correct it. Good luck to you and I hope your issues resolve and you find the strength to remain calm during the process.
