Pcos fertility help

Hi, I was diagnosed with PCoS 10 years ago, as I've aged my symptoms have become more severe, hair growth, acne, no periods at all, 5 years ago I managed to lose 5stone which helped me fall pregnant naturally, I am now 31 and trying again, but with no period or ovulation this is impossible, I have lost weight, but came to stop, I have been asking my GP for metaformin, they have refused, not only would this help regulate my insulin levels, help with my period, help with the weight loss and help with my own sanity, it may just help me to fall pregnant without having to go down the fertility route.....what is the best way to approach the subject and making me successful to leave the doctors with a prescription in hand.....I'm at loss and now feel like my role of a woman is being taken away from me
