Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and Weight.

I have PCOS and my gyno told me that any pound i loose will be in my favour. I have a really hard time losing the weight, and have been trying for approx 1 yr. Any advice on how to loose the weight? I am on metformin but the weight is not coming off. Thanking you for your advice and help.

Is your prolactin levels high? If yes then it is going to be a challenge losing wait. It was for me and nothing I do did not help me reduce wait. The moment I went on Bromocriptine the wait just came off me along with the levels. I heard that in ttc 10% Weight loss with PCOS does the magic. We have other infertility issues and working on it.

One of the site I used to monitor my calorie intake is www.fitday.com. It is too much work to note down what you eat on a day to day basis. But will give you a clear picture how much your calorie intake is and if you need to cut down on food. Go healthy and substitute high fat, high calorie foods with fruits and veggies. Also cut down caffeine, soda and sugar. Hey I am ready to do anything to get pregnant and have my baby. So if eating right is all it takes, I am in it. All the best losing your weight and wish you SSBD.

My doctor had told me the same thing, I'm about 30 pounds off my goal weight and she has told me that dropping the weight will help substantially. I know it can be difficult when you see women who have extra poundage getting pregnant just fine, I guess we just got blessed with great genetics. lol

I was in the same boat, and the metformin did help me, but I cut out soda's/caffiene and lived on water/milk for liquids, then tried to eat more fruits & veggies - trying for 3 meals & 2 snacks each day. Smaller portions, watched my fat/carbs & increased my proteins. No exercise & dropped 20lbs in about 2 months. So not sure what you have tried, but PCOS does make it tough to control weight because of hormones being off. Is your prolactin level normal ? That was another issue for me, and when they realized it & got me on Dostinex to lower it - that helped, too. Best wishes !
