i have polycystic ovaries..

I just researched that my PCOS or polycystic ovary syndrome causes my irregularity. Lately, (before I had my pregnancy - for those who dont know yet, I have miscarried last sept 6, 2010) I noticed that I'm starting to missed my period. I wasn't that aware about PCOS. I also noticed that I'm gaining weight. Do you guys have any idea on how to treat PCOS?

I don't honestly know bout diet pills. But usually they are just a quick fix. What happens when u stop taking them? PCOS is a lifelong thing so you might as well make lifelong changes. Ones you know you can do. Start of small & challenge yourself to a week then another week. Then you've already covered half a month. If you can do something for half a month you can maintain another. Then you've accomplished a full month.

Veggies Carbs, fruit carbs, high fiber Carbs, are good for you. Gives your body the energy it needs to burn.

Don't just take away the negatives when you diet or "change lifestyle" make sure to add positives too.10min walk, 10min stretch. Start by doing 5 push-ups & 15 sit-ups or crunches everyday. When 5 & 15 get easy bump it up 5 more each. You'll be surprised how much stronger you get just by doing that. Reward yourself when you reach a short term goal. New flip flops, sexy undees, earrings.  Set a bigger reward for a long term goal.

Good luck!

hi,

no, I'm not trying to be pregnant again, just for the mean time.
I started my own version of diet.
My waist measures 29 inches right now, hahahaha..
I'm not eating carbs..
No soda..
(I wish i have time to work out)
Do you think diet pills are Okay to use?
Or will it have some bad effects?
I was recommended to take in oral contraceptives,
for female hormones I guess..
and to regulate my menstrual cycle.
God bless.
Thanks,

angel

hi mocha,

i started dieting already. I call it no carbs diet. I,m not eating rice, bread and less sugar for as much as I could. Unfortunately, I still can't find some time for an exercise. I.m also thinking of taking some diet pills, but I/m afraid if it will cause more problem with my fertility.

thanks,

angel

Exercise & a balanced diet is the best way. Cutting out simple sugars, eating more veggies, fruits, beans, fiber, lean cuts of meat. The more out of shape we are the more "severe" our symptoms. So even dropping 10lbs will make a difference with us.

Our main problem is our hormones are all out of wack. So I believe you can get tested to see which hormones are messed up & get supplements to balance you out. I'll get back to you on that. But if your not trying to get pg right now going on birth control will regulate your periods.

My doctor prescribed Metformin and it made me lose weight, but it also made me sick. That's the only medicine I have ever taken.
