normal labs...

Hi everyone, I have been ttc for over two years, my labwork was normal.  I have done three cycles of clomid 50,100,150mg with no success I switched to a different doc who finally did a u.s. yesterday, i have 56 cysts in my left ovary and 30 in my right. how can i have so many cysts and still have normal labs? I started metformin today, has anyone had bad side effects, is so what dosage?

I just started 2 pills a day, and so far I feel fine. Make sure you have it with a meal; I take it after dinner. I think that may alleviate the nausea. Thanks and good luck to you also!

It looks like you made the right decision by switching doctors! My RE told me on my first visit that she'll do an u/s on cd#3. I also started Metformin. I don't see any side effects, but my doctor told me to take only one pill per day for the first week, two pills for another week, and then three pills after that. She said that will help my body adjust to the drug without causing bad side effects. I'm taking Metformin Extended Release, which is supposed to be easier on your stomach, too. Good luck with the new doc! It seems like you're on the right track now!

thanks for the reply, yeah i know it's weird that my doc waited so long.. when i called to schedule the us the tech was out of town, my doc said we can just do it next cycle (so another month of 150 with no tests), i got a new doctor and thats who ordered the us and metformin. very frustrating.

They never did a US until just now? Thats so strange. IMO, that would be the # 1 thing a doctor would do if your having issues with ttc. In any case, the metformin I take 500mg 2X. The only side affects I had for about the first 3 weeks were nausea, upset stomach and some loose stooles. Other then that, that was about it. In my case, I don't have any cysts but some of my labs were a bit abnormal, so having pcos varies from woman to woman.
