2nd degree tear

How long does it take a 2nd degree tear to heal? Had LO 2.5 weeks ago. I stopped using all hospital products including ibuprofen because I felt better, stitches came out, and bleeding stopped. I stopped using pads because uncomfortable. But my plain underwear is not great either because it rubs down there! I wash the area but not where the stitches were. Now the area is itching like crazy. My husband took a look and said it looks healed except a small scar that resembles a line. So I can assume it's healing good, just itchy. I see doc for 6 Week checkup in another month! Does anyone else have same issue?

I have a second degree tear too last week. I tried to look down there but i was not able to see anything it is starting to bother me and it itches. At the hospital they give me a bottle to fill with warm water and they told me to clean the area every time i use the resthroom and it would help. Hopefully it will heal soon

Healing can vary greatly from person to person but from the sounds of it, the wound is closed it just needs to finish internally (the itching). Call your OB office and ask about Tucks brand pads, they may help with any residual swelling and itching.

Ok cool thanks. Yeah my husband said it was closed and he could barely see the mark. I guess the itching and the irritation is the healing process.
