I'm 37, pregnant for the third time. I'm only 5 weeks but I'm nervous that this is going to be harder because of my age. My first pregnancy was at 23 and I was horribly sick the whole time. So far I haven't felt sick, just tired and my second pregnancy I felt tired but not sick as well. I do have a feeling of constant spasm in my lower back and I don't know if that's pregnancy related or not. It's not unbearable, more annoying than anything.

I got pregnant with my first at 38. I'm now pregnant with my second and will be 42 at delivery. It is a little more challenging this time, but I'm also running after a two year old. Just make sure you keep your prenatal appointments and stay healthy.

37 too, #4 on the way, 16 weeks along. I had my 3rd 15 months ago (I had turned 36 3 weeks before he was born). hes perfect. I declined genetic testing because the results wouldn't change my mind about continuing the pregnancy either way.

37 is not too old... I myself am 37 and pregnant with my 4th. I am taking the advanced testing to check for an increase in abnormalities to be on the safe side but I am stronger, healthier, happier and more secure financially than with any of my others. I have had numerous friends have babies well into their 40s who have had healthy happy babies and are healthy, happy moms.

All of the OBGYNs I have seen, have told me while they will monitor me closer, testing will be more extensive and baby will be watched closer, that the risk is really only slightly increased. We are at more a risk of miscarriage in the first trimester, diabetes and other complications such as high blood pressure but again the risk is not HUGELY increased.

So relax, enjoy and breathe. Take care of you and the chances are that baby will be just fine as well.

I don't think you should worry about it too much.  Though, you should consult a doctor regardless.  I have a friend whose boyfriend moved back to Japan. She was around the same age and she didn't have any issues after she got pregnant.

There are plenty of older women giving birth, older than you too. Shouldn't have to worry as long as you're healthy, eat well, go to the drs, etc.

The only thing is that you're supposed to be higher risk for having fetal abnormalities. But really, I think the risk is even with the way some younger people party and drink so much without thinking they could be pregnant

Fatigue and recovery time could obviously be higher as well
