Am I worrying for nothing

Hi,

I lost my baby in january this year at 20 weeks and i am now pregnant with my 4th pregnancy and is 7 weeks this friday. I wont be seeing my obstitrition till the 30th May and two weeks later having my ultrasound. I just want to know everything is ok and I was wondering should I call the hospital and see if I have a heart beat at present or am I just worrying over nothing? and wait till the 30th?

Thank you for your kind words. It is nice to know other people in the same boat as we are. you just hope that the same thing doesnt happen again. I am trying to enjoy this pregnancy because I know that this is the last time regardless of what happens. I just need to get past the 20 weeks and at the moment that is taking forever this time.

I am due on Nov 29th, so yeah, I know what you mean about having the baby around the holidays.  But I'll take her/him whenever I can!  It is great to know other women who are in the same situation.  I feel overwhelmed with worry because of having had a miscarriage, but I am trying to stay positive and allow myself to look forward to having this baby, not be consumed by whether or not I will lose it.  I think once you a hear the heartbeat and see the baby, you'll be able to take a deep breath.  I hope your doc gives you an ultrasound soon.  Keep me posted!

Thank you I really do appreciate your comments. I will give my Dr a call a see if I can have an early ultrasound. Its nice to hear from people out there that has had a loss too that we can chat too throughout our next pregnancy. K10 Road the advise that you have given is so true and I do need to try and enjoy this pregnancy so thank you.

When are you both due? I am due on the 24th Decemebr great timming right on Christmas  I know but if it is meant to be it's meant to be.

Hope to keep chatting to you both throughout the next 9 months and I really do appreciate your advices.

I too am on my fourth pregnancy, and I had a miscarriage at 11 weeks, so I understand how you feel.  The stress and worry is not good for you, but is impossible to avoid.  When I saw the heartbeat, I felt much better, and my doctor gave me one just because of my previous miscarriage.  It should be important to your doctor to alleviate some of your anxiety, and I would definitely call and request a sonogram.  It is a very reasonable request.  Good luck, I hope you have a happy, healthy pregnancy!

Well, you're not worrying over nothing.  Once you have a loss, every second of a subsequent pregnancy is full of worry (I'm going through it myself).  The advice everyone keeps giving me though is to not let the worry overcome me so much that I forget to enjoy the pregnancy.  So, same advice for you =)

Do you get your ultrasounds at a hospital??  I would think that is something that your OB usually has to order.  Why don't you call them and just tell them that you are a nervous wreck because of your previous loss and you would really like an early ultrasound.  At 7 weeks, they should definitely be able to see a heartbeat (usually).  I don't think it's unreasonable for you to ask that or for them to accommodate it.
