Hi,
Yes, definitely find an Ob-Gyn (doctor) right away, and stick to all of your scheduled appointments. It always a good idea to keep an open line of communication with your doctor during your entire pregnancy. Another idea is to rearrange your schedule so that it is less stressful for you; be sure to carve out time for daily exercise and include time to rest or nap each day. If you work, speak with your supervisor about maternity leave options in advance (the earlier the better!). If possible, your husband might consider taking some time off around the expected due date, just in case you need extra support. Definitely take your prenatal vitamins and stick to healthy meal plans ~ stay away from the heavy salty foods. Read and research as much as you can about becoming a new parent with your husband, before the baby arrives. Congrats and Enjoy!
Lots of information you can find online, you can even download or copy a checklist of things to do before the baby and after. My only recommendation is to make sure you give yourself enough time for this and for your body (rest, etc). Take on fewer activities and tasks, say no more often. You're going to need time to research and prepare. Your doctor is your best resource and parenting/ mom groups like the ones on Facebook. Moms love to help!
I recommend a midwife...they are ordinarily much more kind to mom's that are a bit older
I'm in the same situation. 35 and going to be a first time parent July 26. I've been reading lots of books and online resources. There's this awesome book called the pregnancy journal that tells you what's going on every day with your baby, your body, and gives you health tips. Good luck!
Thank you so much! I have an appointment dec 21st. I think I'm an over planner and the rest advice comforts me. Thought I just felt lazy. Lol
Congratulations! First time parents.
