Becoming pregnant during maternity leave!!!!!!

O.K.  I live in Ontario Canada and am on maternity leave.  I am due to return to work Dec. 1st.  I have just found out today that I am pregnant again.  I am due april 22 2010. Any idea how many weeks I would have to work to get maternity leave started up again?

Thanks Dawn

I should mention that your employer can't prevent you from returning to work early if you end up needing to do that. You just have to give them a month notice.

Congratulations!! That info is definitely on either the EI or the mat leave website-- a quick search should find it for you... I think it's a specific number of hours and if I'm guessing right, you should have enough... if not, you're close and may just want to return to work a little early, in November, so you can be sure to qualify.

I don't know much about your questions like oceanv does but I wanted to wish you congratulations on your new baby!  Hopefully you'll be able to earn some more maternity leave before you have the next baby.

ok, what i meant was your ei (as far as i understand it) is based on the last 6 months of earnings. you need 600 hours to qualify for another year off with pay, but technically you can do the 600 hours dec - march with a little wiggle room for april.

well, in bc you need 600 hours but they take an average of six months so your payment will likely decrease if you make the 600 - in 4 months. Looks like you might make five months.

In Quebec it is 4 months, and I think my sister said the two provinces are close in policy.

Wow, that is going to be some close babies!!!!! I do not know the answer to your question, but personally I do not think I would even go back to work.  If you could swing that, then that would soooooooo be awesome!

Does your employer know your are pregnant again??? By the way how old is your baby??

Congrats on both babies!!!
