I went to my local State Highway Patrol Office. They looked it up for me and gave me a printout.  I should mention.. it is an Evenflo.. with the 5 point harness.. but was still recalled.. They wouldn't install it and told me to contact the manufacture and get a new one, then come back. I'm just going to get a new one because I don't want time to run out before they do something about the recall.

Where did you get your car seat installed pcarsey? I mentioned it to my dh and and he just gave me a funny look... like are you crazy? lol .... guess Ill be doing that job!

would also like to add.... ALWAYS check for recalls.. even on the ones you own. Just found out today when I went to have mine installed that it has been recalled :o(

Don't forget as well - car seats DO have an expiration date located somewhere on the seat - this helps to ensure that car seats are disposed of in a timely manner as new and better safety improvements are made - EVERY single family should have their car seats installed or checked by a professional - most fire departments or emergency services can provide you with information as to where to have this done - you can also call your local Babies R Us - they will frequently do the inspections there - make sure all straps are kept tight and on the baby's shoulder - no more then a finger under the strap - and NEVER ever use a jacket, blanket or the Bundle Me in your car seat - you should never place anything between your child and the straps on your car seat!
