Down syndrome screening

Hi I'm having the scan and blood tests for this on Wednesday and am just looking for other peoples experiences. I'm very worried because I'm 35. Has anyone been told they're high risk and had a healthy baby? Thanks for your time ☺ xxx

I have a degree in early childhood education... I used to stress because "over 35 considered more at risk for having a child with Down Syndrome". However, I have payed close attention to this and done some research on my own... previously many women had children in their 20s & early 30s. As our society has changed in the past couple decades more and more women are having children later in life in late 30s, and early 40s... this I believe is changing their statistics. Although there is risk I don't believe it is as high as once thought of having a child with down syndrome due to mothers maternal age, it is more likely you will have a typically developing child. With that being said this is my opinion from personal research AND experience. I wouldn't stress at all, your baby should be just fine. If you do happen to have a child with down syndrome it would also be all blessing, they are some of the most amazing souls I have had the pleasure of ever meeting. So kind and sweet, although they have obstacles in life with them advancements in education, child development and medicine they can be wonderful productive members of society. ♡

I was 36 with my last pregnancy and told that when the test game back. They than sent me for a more detailed scan to look for markers and found none. She is a very healthy 5 year old now.
