I was unaware about egg life, too. He also said that the egg living 24hrs isn't always true either. He said that was an "up to" #. Up to 24 hrs like sperm can live "up to 5 days", even though it more realistic to live about 3 days.
2x a day is a bit much. I always like it when the day b4 o happens on a Saturday. With both of us working 10+ hrs a day, once is lucky most days, lol.
40 isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I have been ttc since around the age of 18. I got pg the 1st time at 40. I lost him due to a torn placenta. They tested and he was genetically fine. It was good to know that I am still capable of conceiving and better still having a healthy baby. I hope you get yours b4 40 :)
I didn't know we now had a shortened egg life. Thats something new for me. Thanks for info.
I think for now I will stick to 1 per day and keep my fingers crossed. My obgyn is going to "help things along" next cycle. Even though I have been able to conceive naturally, I really am stressed about my 40th approaching (well, in 9 1/2 months), so I just don't want to take any chances with waiting.
The rule of thumb is every other day b4 pos opk then every day after pos opk. Over 35 and good s/a on partner, 2x a day after pos opk if possible. If unknown s/a or poor s/a only 1x a day after pos opk.
After 35 the egg has a shortened life span. It may only live for 6-12 hrs (or so my dr says) the more sperm there waiting for the egg to release, the better. In normal sperm production, they are regenerated every 24-36hrs. Even if 2x a day, the 2nd release is only decreased by about 1/2. It's better to have the 1/2 amount from the 2nd bd in the day than not have them as you only have a short time til o after the pos opk.
I hope you catch the egg!
every day I would say... they say no less than every other day.. good luck
im going with every other day...but thats just me
i think i remember reading that it depends on your partners spermies and how fast and straight they swim...LOL
best of luck
