My daughter came at about 36 wks and was healthy except for a little bit of jondice. If you have a choice id say wait until the baby is ready. The due date could be off as well so if you think youre 36 you could be either 34 or 38. Theres no way to really know if they would be ok besides maybe a very good sonogram cause they all grow at their own pace. Good luck i hope everything goes well for you.

My 2nd was born wt 36 weeks via emergency c section due to ruptured placenta.  He spent no time in nicu and went home with me. He had to be hospitalized a few times for rsv, was allergic to milk protiens till 12 months old, has ezama but other than that very happy 2 year old. My 3rd was also born at 36 weeks we had to stay in hospital an extra day but she came home with me. She is very tiny and in the 35% for height, weight and head circumference.  But she is a happy healthy 11 month old.

There is a chance of problems at 40 weeks. So yes there is a chance of problems at 36w (34-38weeks). The last few weeks is when when most of the brain development happens. It is actually the baby's brain development that signals your body to start labor. A 20 or so days to give your baby the best possable outcome is just the first of many lessons babies and kids give us.

Now if it is medically NEED, at 36w(34-38w) is much better than 26 weeks.
