First Ultrasound

I'm 8 weeks today and first ultrasound is today. My doctor wouldn't do one any earlier. I'm both excited and scared. I'm so afraid she is going to tell me there is a problem or they won't find a heartbeat. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Hi There
Exact same thing happened to me due to scanning too early only a sac was seen and they scared me by talking about missed miscarrages etc

They did my bloods every 48 hours which increased normally - I had another scan 2 weeks later and we saw a tiny little blob in the yolk sac and all was well.

Im now 38w along into a healthy prenancy.  Stay positive I think these early scans are more trouble than they are worth just gave us worry for nothing.

Bloodwork from Thursday showed all levels right where they are supposed to be at this stage. Going for a recheck today but feeling better.

I know it's hard.  I've been in your shoes and honestly, the waiting to find out is probably the worst part of this whole situation.  I wish there was another way to know for certain.  Try to hang in there.  I always found posting my feelings and fears helped a great deal.  There are so many of us here who have been in your shoes and are here to "hold your hand" through this.  Lots of hugs to you.

I'm trying to stay positive but it's hard. I don't know whether to scream or laugh or cry. All I can do is wait.

Ultrasound did not go as expected. They think I'm only 5-6 weeks. Doctor could clearly see yolk sac in unterus but no heartbeat. Had to go for blood work today and again on Saturday. Another ultrasound next Friday. Trying to think positive and happy thoughts but worried. Thanks for your kind words.

First ultrasound...so exciting.  And I also understand that fear.  I remember the first time I saw my son's heartbeat....I think it was the most beautiful thing I had seen up till that point in my life (his birth was even better..lol).  If you have no signs of any problems, then take a deep breathe and try to look forward to it.  8 weeks is a bit of a milestone, so making it this far problem free is a really great sign!  All the best to you, everything crossed and don't forget to update us.
