if you read the independent studies on the actual validity of tests such as materniT21 or panorama, you will be surprised that there's actually no FDA oversight or approval on these tests and the companies can make whatever claims they want. The 99% accuracy that these tests claim are a total farce. Studies performed on aborted fetuses show that over 80% of the fetuses aborted were completely healthy, even though the test said that they had a genetic abnormality. These tests only assess risk. If it shows that you are at high risk of having a baby with a specific genetic abnormality, the only way to confirm is to have an amnio or CVS testing. Amnios and CVS are actual diagnostic tests, Panorama, MaterniT21, etc are not. Your baby's blood will be tested immediately after birth for genetic abnormalities, so unless you're willing to have a diagnostic test and abort if it comes back positive I would not get the testing done. Also, most genetic disorders have physical markers which can be seen on the ultrasound. Don't waste your peace of mind or your money... it's a total scam.
Woow! Thats pricey.
I'm in Australia and it costs $490 dollars with or without medicare (insurance).
I'm in Canada and when I did the Harmony test it was about $800 with no health coverage. Are you sure the test you're doing isn't by chance called Panorama (Natera)? I hear that one is pretty expensive if you don't have health coverage.
