I dread going to that first ultrasound today...

I really wish I wasn't dreading this ultrasound appointment today.  I'm 6w 4 days and I'm going in for the 1st ultrasound.  This is usually the point where I go in and get the bad news and that's why I would just rather not go...But, not going isn't going to change things...they are what they are and I can only pray that we see a good heartbeat this time.  My beta's were good (707 17dpo and 1402 19 dpo) but I've had great beta tests before and things didn't continue.  I just don't have many symptoms (yes very tired and I'm craving all kinds of sour stuff, but really no morning sickness or sore boobs)  I do have a 1 year old little girl that is the light of my life so I know my body can do it,...it's just finding that good egg again.  So whatever happens, I'll be ok, hopefully I'll be estatic today, but if not, I'll continue on and won't give up for baby #2 :-)  Hope everyone is doing great today after a holiday weekend!

Dana, YES, at 6w 1d Blake's hb was only 89. They gave me 50/50. I am certain this is the case. The heart has to start beating sometime!! Keep taking your meds! When do you go back?? Tell them you can't wait a week, even a few days will make a huge difference. The hb's should go up 3 beats a day...I'm praying for you :)!!!

Dana - kellym too had a low heartbeat w/her one-year old baby & everything turned out perfect so please don't give up.  In fact if I remember correctly, the baby's heartbeat was in the upper 80's.

Listen to YvetteY - everything she said is right - especially about continuing your meds.  Hang in there - we're all sending positive thoughts your way - jen

:( I'm sorry hon.. I feel so sad for you.. I honestly cannot image going through repeated m/c like this.. I know there is still hope.. I'm sure any glimmers of hope at this point are tarnished...  If you can bear it.. keep taking your meds.. try to put it out of your mind and see how the next appt goes...

I'm sorry.. I wish you didn't have to go through this..  Hannah

I whole heartedly agree with the others.  90 is just fine for where your at time wise.  Your odds of miscarrying this baby just dropped dramatically.  Dana, I don't know you very well at all, and maybe I am out of line saying this.  I know you are scared...believe me, I understand that, I truly do.  I am as well, in fact some days I am downright terrified. But I believe firmly that the mind is a powerful thing, and I believe in the power of positive thinking.  You need to try to change this mindset.  Celebrate...you got a heartbeat...and its just fine!!!  All the stats say that number is good, your RE thinks that number is just fine, we all think it sounds good.  You need to believe in this, it's happening!!!!  Congratulations, you can do this!!!!!

The missing part is *****************, but I went ahead and copy and pasted it for you.

Week 7 - Gestational Age (Fetal Age 5 weeks)
Generally from 6 ½ -7 weeks is the time when a heartbeat can be detected and viability can be assessed. A normal heartbeat at 6-7 weeks would be 90-110 beats per minute. The presence of an embryonic heartbeat is an assuring sign of the health of the pregnancy. Once a heartbeat is detected, the chance of the pregnancy continuing ranges from 70-90% dependent on what type of ultrasound is used. If the embryo is less than 5mm CRL, it is possible for it to be healthy without showing a heartbeat, though a follow up scan in 5-7 days should show cardiac activity.

I don't know you, but I agree w/ Yvette. I understand not wanting to put yourself through more heartache, but at the same time I have seen so many miracles! And like Yvette said, you got a heartbeat, and it is good. Maybe not as high as you would like, but it can go up. I have seen it! I would hate to see you end a pregnancy that is possibly a healthy pregancny and could end w/ the birth of a healthy child.

Please, Please, Please don't give up yet!

Dana, the normal heartbeat at between 6.5 and 7w is between 90 and 110. You need to be patient with this pregnancy and give this a chance ...time is the only thing that will tell you what's to be.

Don't stop your meds and go to your next ultrasound.   You need to wait at least a week and see what happens.

Please please please don't give up.  I'm not saying this to cheer you up.  I think your hb was good.  Most don't see heartbeat until 6.5 weeks and it's normal that it would be in the 90s at that point.....according to all I've read on the internet.,,(legitimate journals).

Just see what the rate will be on the next ultrasound,.  You are being hasty...really you are.

And Dana, I consider you a friend, but you don't know with 100% absolute certainty that this pregnancy is going to fail.   Continue your meds!

Hey girls,
Sorry but I don't have any good news to share.  Everything measured great but the heartbeat was only in the 90's and I think it was the low 90's.  Of couse the RE tried to remain optimistic and tell me that it could go either way at this point but I know better.  Everything I read on line says that at 6w4d the heartbeat should be at least 110 or over.  So i'm already considering this another m/c.  My RE wants to see me next week but I'm wondering if I should just give us and stop the meds?  My RE said not to do that but seriously, I don't want to drag things on if this isn't meant to be?

I just wanted to say, I just only got my BFP last week and w/ every BETA I am a wreck. I've only had 2 MCs, but it scares me so bad to think I could possibly have another!  I'm sure if I'm this way w/ my BETAs I will be a huge mess when it comes to my US. Good Luck today and I hope all goes well!

You sounded just like me at 6w7d!  I was so convinced that I had mc'd that I didn't even want to go in and I too had no symptoms at that point except some mild fatigue.  I really think your symptoms will hit in no time soon & all will be great!

Good luck on your u/s today & keep us posted and as kelly says it's exciting when you're proved wrong - jen

Oh, I hear ya! It likes you want to see that little heartbeat so bad, but your nerves have you all in a frenzy!

Your numbers sound great and as for the symptoms, I would not stress about that. I did not have full on symptoms to about 8 weeks.

I hope you have a great appt and we are looking forward to hearing your good news!!!!!!!!

With this pg, I had no sore bbs at all.. they finally started getting sore in the second trimester and now they are huge.. I think they are even bigger than they were the first pg..

This pg the hb was low at the first u/s (week 6), but RE told me it was normal for that early and they speed up afterward... and that is exactally what happened.  I don't remember what the initial hb was, but I'm sure I could look it up if you need it... I'm sure it is on my profile somewhere...

best of luck today.. please let us know how it goes..

I had 4 m/c and delivered my son 5 months ago at age 41 so it can be done as long as you don't give up hope.  Just stay positive and and I hope everything turns out okay with your ultrasound.  Keep us posted.

Wow, I read your post and have to remind myself that I didn't write it.  I have a one-year-old too, so I know it can be done but I just had my 4th m/c in April.  I'm waiting on my next good egg too.  U/s are great things but they sure can make you nervous.  The crazy thing is, you can see a strong healthy h/b on the u/s and the minute you leave, the worrying continues.  Hang in there, you are not the only one going through this.  I hope to be pregnant again soon but I hate the feeling of despair and unknowing.  Good luck!  Try to stay positive, I know it's hard, but try.

Sorry you are worried about it. I hope when you get there you see a nice strong heart beat and that everything will be fine. My Prayers will be with you. Now go get a picture taken of that little bean and put a smile on your face, chances are that it will be a healthy baby, God Bless Julia
