I have a herniated disc and had sciatica with my last baby as well. My Spine doc says to keep weight gain to a minimum and stay active as long as possible. Those 2 things alone can help with the pressure and tightening of your back. Also, if it does get too bad your OBGYN can provide you with meds to help you through.  Relax and kick your feet up if you start to feel pain and listen to your body

Here is some advice from the MedHelp team on Back Pain in Pregnancy:
http://www.medhelp.org/pregnancy-health/articles/Back-Pain-During-Pregnancy-Your-Symptoms-Manual/1995

You can also find this in the I'm Expecting app by selecting Back Pain as a symptom from the Pregnancy Diary and then heading to the Symptoms Manual from the menu in the upper left of the home screen. You should see it there!

Back pain is so hard for us. Have you looked into the back support brace? It wraps around your belly and lower back to provide more support? I have herniated discs in my back and sciatica so I try to remain as active as possible and remain stretching. My spine doc told me to keep weight gain below 20lbs (I am not overweight at all) and to remain active. It keeps the joints and muscles more limber. That doesn't mean run a marathon but if you workout, continue to do so. If you do not, maybe add light stretching to help work out the muscles.

If it gets too bad your OBGYN can provide pain meds that are safer to take while pregnant as a last resort. You are not alone my friend!

I will give that a try. With my last baby I had back pain and had an emergency c-section.  I hope you are better soon too! Thank you!

I'm sorry you in pain. The only thing I can advice Is one of those heat pads that have rice inside. Heat it up for 2 minutes and try laying down on it. Or wrap it around you. That's what I'm currently doing I am 39 weeks.
