I am so sorry for your loss (((hug)))
PS..... Thanks for all your input!!
(I miscarried this week so this is all irrelevant now as far was asking what I can take while pregnant. Good for future use tho!) Well I learned something interesting in the first nurse visit for my pregnancy. She told me that when we're on our period or pregnant the high hormone levels cause swelling in the membranes. This is what has confused me for years and no other doc or nurse has ever explained it. This swelling is what mimics the sinus pressure. So I often went back and forth between "do i have a migraine? do i have a sinus headache?". The Relpax would work then only Sudafed and Ibu would work. Well now I know why. So it's part sinus but it's caused by high hormone levels.
If it helps any...my monthly migraines (I get them during my period...even if I am on birth control and don't actually have a period, I get a migraine when I would be getting the period...weird) have stopped during my pregnancy. I did have some headaches in my first trimester but since then, nothing and I am 26 weeks today.
I have also taken fioricet not while pregnant though. It worked pretty well. In the mean time you can try some home remedies. Try drinking a full 8 oz glass of pure grape juice. It helps. Since you pg. you can't drink redbull but those help too.(its the caffeine) good luck.
thanks to both of you for the input! i'll definitely be having a chat with my doc and i'll be asking about that fioricet.
In this type of situation you need to work with both your OB and the Dr. managing your migraines. I can't say I know a lot about migraines, but with just about any chronic condition, there are safe alternatives (I don't know specifically about Relpax either, sorry). Another great resource is your pharmacist. While it is absolutely critical to protect the fetus, it is also very important to take care of mom. Don't just ask if it's safe, but why it may be considered unsafe. It's time for a frank conversation with your OB. congrats on your pregnancy, and all the best to you.
