Morning sickness reducing, hormones reducing??

I just posted on the May10 Forum but may get more responses here.  I am 40 and had a D&C on 30 June 2009.  I had my last period on 24 August and tested positive at 5 weeks.  From 6 weeks until 8 weeks I was fiercely morning sick, then I tried sea bands which worked really well.  After about 4 days I realised I didn't need them anymore and since then my morning sickness has reduced slowly and now at 9 weeks and 3 days I only have the aversions left.  i also suffer tiredness and dizziness, but I am worried that my hormone levels are not right.

Is it normal to have morning sickness reduce so early?  With my daughter I had it until 12 weeks.  I have had 2 miscarriages in the past so I am worried sick.  I have no other symptoms to worry about so feel silly going to the doctor about it.  Is it possible I have just managed the sickness by avoiding the food I have aversions to?  Excersising? Wearing sea bands?  Is it normal fluctuation?

Thank you so much.  Your words are unbelievingly comforting and it is a wonder that one can find such inspiration across the ether (and probably half the world) from a stranger.

I am happy for what I have.  I have a very loving and supporting husband who, although he is getting older himself is still happy to keep trying.  He is only concerned at the toll that the D&C took on my body last time.  I am hoping for a natural miscarriage.  I don't know how long they will let me wait but I once had a miscarriage at 11 weeks and the foetus was only 7 weeks in size, so I think it's heart stopped a while before the miscarriage happened.

I am also grateful of course for my beautiful daughter.

I have found that my belly is starting to shrink!  It is wierd.  Maybe it is the lack of hormones reducing the fluid retention.  I go for another hormone test tomorrow.

Thanks again

Oh- I am so sorry to hear that. I have had three miscarriages- so I do know how hard it can be. One missed miscarriage went to 18 weeks- which was HORRIBLE. I had gone in with my hubby and child to a routine u/s. But the dr never did find the heartbeat all those weeks- said it was my tipped uterus- and I FELT HORRIBLE- back ache- etc. I knew something was wrong- and dr. did not listen to me- waited 4 weeks to send me for u/s.

I can only tell you that it was heartbreaking- BUT- as we left that day- we rode the elevator with this very old gentleman- that was nearly transparent and looked to be in a lot of pain- as was definitely on his way out of this world. It makes me sad now- but he will never know how he helped me. I realized that I was grateful for so many things- and that I had a long life ahead of me- etc. It was a beautiful sunny day that day.I was glad we all had each other ... just for a lot of things.

I had to wait two days before they could do the D&E- and that was very hard- I did have a belly- and was now feeling sick- low grade temp.

I am not sure if the above helps you in any way. I hope it does. Just know you have support here ... HHHUUUGGGGSSS.

Thanks for your replies.  I took your advice and went to the doctor today.  The Doctor said that she was not worried except that I had m/c-ed before, so she gave me a referral to get an ultrasound (and hormone tests).  The ultrasound showed a 7 week size foetus with no heartbeat.  They will not diagnose without the hormone test results and another ultrasound but I think the result is clear.  Now I have to await the inevitable. :-(

I can only tell you- that I have felt GREAT this entire PG. I am 11 weeks- had some morning sickness- slight at night- early on- but I think I figured how to deal with it early on. (Like have a full stomach- or something to suck on- chew gum - etc.) Plus I was convinced that my breasts were shrinking at that II must have had a missed miscarriage (Had one in the past.)

BUT that was not the case- as we saw the baby the other day- and it was awesome!!!!!!

You might feel better calling your Dr- having your HCG tested over sevral days- to make sure doubling- and scheduling an ultrasound.

I HTHS- best wishes!

Pregnancy symptoms or lack of are not a good indicator of a viable pregnancy.  Every women and every pregnancy is very different.  However, if your symptoms stop all of a sudden, that can possibly signal a problem, although again, not a very reliable indicator. It's really natural for you to worry.  I too have had multiple miscarriages, and have worried through this whole pregnancy (I'm now just over 26 weeks). In my first trimester I had days I felt just awful (all day sickness) and days I felt great. Some days my breasts were so tender I almost couldn't stand to shower or get dressed, other days nothing.  Your morning sickness may come back or you may be lucky enough to be done with it.  So many things could be happening...your body is adjusting to the hormones, so you don't feel as bad is one of them.  It doesn't sound like all your symptoms are gone, just the one, so I bet everything is fine.  But give your Dr. a call....never ever feel silly doing that.  Peace of mind goes a very long way and trust me, your Dr. will understand.  I think just about all of us pregnant women here (myself included) have made that call and felt so much better afterwards.  Congrats on your pregnancy, and best of luck to you!!
