HI, So has anybody done the IVF with Pre-GeneticDiagnosis.. I think that is a good way to pick out the good eggs.. Any advise on this.....:)

Just added info that I had both live embryos and the ones that expired before day 5 biopsied. The live one was chromosomally abnormal. The expired ones with 8 cells - the largest number of cells - were abnormal too. The three 7 cells embies were normal but they expired in the lab waiting to be big enough for PGD. My RE said that he had put back the 8 cell embies on day 3 (which any RE would choose over the 7 cell) I would have miscarried. So you really cannot tell without PGD and sometimes pushing the envelope to day 5 for PGD is a risk. So if you need to do it please make sure you ask lots of questions. Good luck.

I haven't but we did consider sperm washing which according to the U.S. tech has around a %80 accuracy.

i was scheduled for PGD. it was $4500. but the embryos have to make it the blastocyst stage in order to be tested. my embryos were not big enough on day 4 and on day 5 they all arrested :(

so my advice is to be very careful in understanding the risks. since they need to be a certain size to biopsy, they can die while growing in the lab. if you have a history of MC or you know you or your DH have an issue with translocation, then you should do it. it will screen out most - but not all - chromosomal abnormalities. and you will still need an amnio later on in the pregnancy.

I DID PGD.  I think my cost was $3000 maybe 4. For us, it was totally worth it. After so many unsuccessful IVF attempts, it gave us a lot of answers. I always had good looking embryos so I was very surprised to see I only had 2 of 6 be genetically normal. I am 39 so knowing that age has a lot to do with egg quality, I think age should be a factor in your decision to do PGD.. Any other questions, let me know!

i didn't do PGD but it was up for consideration at one point. My office didn't seem to have a minimum but it's very expensive and dr said there is a small percentage (i think 5%) loss rate and also a small percentage of being wrong about the eggs. However, if your dr advises it due to age or whatever else, then go for it. I do have a friend of a friend that did it and had a very healthy baby girl.  Keep in mind, it's very expensive. I think it is $6K or more in my office. good luck!!

I have not done it but I became friends with someone in my office who did.  She was told that the minimum eggs to send out was 10 (in my office)  so she had to go thru 3 cycles of IVF to have eggs frozen because she was only producing 3-4 eggs at a time.  I believe it cost her $5000-.
This is something you may want to ask your Dr' office.
