Parissa got her first pair of shoes..

And she cried when the lady at stride rite put them on her and she cried and didn't want to walk...  then when we got home we put them on her and she was ok... but when she used her walker she didn't want to move her feet so she went on the tipy tipy toes and then kind of fell over... it was kinda cute... then when we walked her while holding our hands she would pick her feet WAY up...  she is almos 13 months but has never worn shoes before just socks... I went and bought the generic robeez at target and she is fine with those...  There is no carpet in Peru (we are leaving in 2 weeks to spend 2 months there) and it is winter so I had to get something for her footsies! haha.. plus she should start walking on her own any minute... anyway just wanted to share cuz it was cute!

I just switched jacob to actual shoes not too long ago.. before that we just used the Target robeez knock-offs also... i make sure I always choose shoes with flexible soles..

Enjoy your trip... sounds like so much fun!!

Well I don't believe in shoes for little ones either.. heck they are the first things that come off when I walk into the house...  all my kids walked at different times.. the first one at 12m the second one at 9 and the third one is 12 1/2m and we are still waiting.. no rush haha... We did get her some of the softer soled shoes at stride rite.. the bendable rubber ones.. but we use the robeez and she doesn't mind those.. my second only wore robeez until she was she was 2 haha... infact I want a pair for myself!!!

Amanda...  it hurts me that she is growing so fast.. I always say that they are babies for so little time and teenagers forever haha...  She is my last :(  so it is so bitter sweet

This story reminds me of my little Noah - his grandma chastised us months ago for not putting him into shoes so one day she took matters into her own hands & took him to a fancy shoe store to have him fitted for StrideRite shoes.  I'm not a big believer in shoes for a non-walking baby except for soft soled so I rarely put the hard soled ones on Noah.

She now believes the reason he's not walking (he's 13 1/2 months) is because I don't put the shoes on him everyday.  But I'm fairly certain that he's about to walk anyway so then those shoes will go right back on him when he goes out.  The shoes are heavy and his feet feel so hot when I take them off of him.  I actually bought him some sandals at k-mart the other day for when he does start walking and wants to go outside.

Sorry to rant on - jen
