Risks of inducing?

I will be 39 weeks on Thursday the 12 and scheduled to be induced. The reason the Dr suggested it is I live a long way from the hospital (over and hr).
I will say that when we decided to induce, I really couldn't think of anything to ask the Dr at the time. So I've been doing my own research. Mayhaps not the best idea as now I've managed to scare myself lol.
A few of the articles I read said it is more painful than regular labor due to going right into active labor, rather than the slow buildup. Also I read that it increases the chance of fetal complications and stress, resulting in a high risk of c-section.  There were other risks mentioned as well.
Any mother's out there that have been induced, and would be willing to share their experience? I know every woman and every pregnancy is different. But some firsthand knowledge would ease my mind. Thanks in advance :)

Im getting induced on the 12th if he don't come by his self and I have read up on some things as well.  And if you're a ftm and being induced it increase the risk of you having a emergency cesarean.  Because the drugs makes you go into labor.  But you might not dilate as fast as your contractions. And that is what I'm trying to avoid.  I don't want survey I want it vaginal

I was induced with my 3rd child on my due date 12 years ago.My first 2 babies were ovrr 9 lbs and i struggled badly pushing them out so my dr thought inducing may help before he got too big. I could not have had a better labor it went fast and super easy 4 hrs from start to finish and no pain meds. He was 8 lbs 9 oz huge difference. My labor was a walk in the park compared to my first 2. Now im expecting my 4th and my dr said times have chsnged and they do not plan on inducing me. Im kind of disapointed.  Good luck!

Hi. I was induced with my 3 yr old due to high bp. But I started pitocin around 3pm and was only at 2cm and 80% effaced. I was progressing just not as fast as they wanted, around 8:30-9 pm the doctor broke my water and the contractions kicked in very badly. Ended up giving into the epidural around 12am and had my daughter at 2:14am. I don't think there was much difference in pain from her and my first. You should be fine. Good luck.
