Taking baby at 36 weeks!

I'm measuring large so they want to take the baby early. What are your thoughts Mommys?

Go with your gut, what feels right to you.  My son was born at 37 weeks and was 5lbs 4 oz.  1 day before my c-section doctor told me he was measuring at 7 lbs. Its not exact.

I would ask if it can possibly wait until at least 37 weeks because before that point it's highly likely that baby won't be able to maintain temp, breath unassisted, or su ck/swallow/breath properly. Every baby is different and some born at 34 weeks can breath room air but some born at 37 weeks have a nicu stay.

My twins were delivered at 36+2 (I went into labor) and they spent 0 time in nicu.  They have had no issues, and are almost 3.  Good luck   :)

IKerm78, 1 week can make a huge difference. At 36 weeks your baby is premature and theirs lungs are not fully developed. Alot if babies have been just fine coming at 36 weeks but, there's a reason pregnancy is meant to last 40 weeks. I understand that for medical reasons induction is sometimes necessary, but don't rush it.
Hudsnewmom I wish you the best.

Remember, laws are location/state dependent so it could be different in other places.  Never heard of a law like this to be honest.  And when I looked it up, it didn't appear to be a law.  It is a recommendation from the medical community and March of Dimes but most likely not a 'law'.  Just clarifying.  Luck to the poster.  My son was induced just shy of 39 weeks for size.  good luck hon

Oh that is because there is a law that requires for the pregnancy to be at 39 weeks pregnant b4 inducing unless there is a medical concerned. I had low amniotic fluid so they could but if u r not having any type of conditions then they won't be amble to endure until 39.

Hi mags, i don't agree with what hospital said. Was bitter yesterday because they sent mw refusing to induce,(because of asthma). but did tell me if i was 39 weeks it would be no problem.  Glad you have healthy babies! Wish my son was here already! Don't really understand how 1 week can make that big of difference.

My 2 previous pregnancies have both been induced at 37 weeks due to low amniotic fluid n both of them were perfectly fine. Took them home the same day I went home (the next day) n they don't have any medical conditions not even allergies. At that they have never even been sick enough for me to take them to the hospital at all. So very healthy

Was at hospital today. They said my baby is going to be big, but they will not induce until 39 weeks because babies induced before then are at greater risk of asthma and other issues.
