huge scare this morning

Hi all.  We just had a huge scare this morning.  After spotting on/ off till my 7th week of pregnancy, I woke up this morning hemorrhaging, cramping and passing clots.  I called the OB and they had me go to the Women's hospital ER.   After an hour of nail biting, they said the twins are okay, and that I appear to have a 16x18x48 subchorionic bleed.  They said it is not near the twins and they have put me on bedrest for the time being.  Also via US they said the two are actually showing larger than my due date (which is ironic since we did IVF).  I'm HOPING its not due to gestational diabetes.  (last urine glucose was 3+).  The bleeding has slowed way down almost to nothing, but they did say that I may have this for another month or so if not longer.
Also, I've been having trouble urinating at night, i e very hard to get it started and then the stream is soooooooooo slow.  I'm being treated for a UTI, and then they told me I have a retroverted uterus and that it should straighten out when the babies get bigger and my uterus "flips".  Joy!

Who knew pregnancy could be such a roller coaster ride??? I just knew I had lost one of the babies this morning.  I still swear I saw I passed some whitish tissue along with the "liver colored" clots. (Sorry for being so graphic, it's the nurse in me).  But the twins were just moving all around and kicking, Heart rates in the high 170s low 180s which doc said was normal.
Anyone else gone thru this?
I've never prayed so much in my life as I do now.

Just an update.  Talked to the doc office this morning.  They just told me to take it easy and that I may very well have some spotting for a few days.  They didn't seem overly concerned and I'm to keep my regular appt on the 13th.

I'm just taking it easy. I know there's nothing they can do to stop any miscarry at this point, so I'm not sure if that's why they aren't worried OR if it's truly nothing to worry about.

Also, thanks Dottie!

Oh My Goodness.....I know that was super scary!  I'm glad everything is ok w/ the babies.  Hopefully you can take their advice and stay in bed until things get better.  It's ok to lean on hubby and friends to help out w/ day to day stuff.  I don't know anything about your condition but I really hope things work themselves out SOON!

Good Luck!!!

Thank you so much for your reply.  My spotting is still bright red but again seems to have slowed down tonight.  I'll probably take it easy for the next few days and see what happens.  It'll be interesting to see what the doctor says tomorrow.
I made the mistake of looking up the diagnosis on the net.  Talk about scary!  I read all sorts of posts, everything from all went well to one woman losing her baby at 22 weeks and having blood transfusions.  So I closed my pc and decided NOT to freak out.   I'm really glad youre pregnancy is going well now.  It gives me hope to look forward to.

Hugs, Lisa

Hi there
I know what you went thru first hand. I'm 16 weeks tomorrow and at 11wks 6 days I had major hemorrhaging, having passed around 10-15 large sized clots at least. It scared me to death. My spotting lasted (very light in amount and usually brown color) up until about a week and a half ago, but it has now completely stopped. My doc and the ER doc said the recommended treatment used to be bedrest but that it wasn't really necessary unless the hemorrhaging occurs later in pregnancy when movement really does have an impact on bleeding.

In early pregnancy, they told me, bedrest has not been shown to help whatsoever. That being said, I was placed on bedrest in earlier preggo's due to some bleeding so I put myself on reduced activity (this lasted for a day :0)) and have been at my normal pace ever since.

I bet they put you on bedrest because of the twins, though. At any rate, take heart...I appear to be (knock on wood...God willing) an example of a major subhorionic bleed with no further issues.

I am such an idiot!  The bleed is 10x18x16.  Not 48.   Thats the size of my cervix..lol.  Since I posted, the bleeding has started up again.  Guess this will all be a waiting game.

I forgot to add something.......They put me on Prometrium and Vit C twice daily.
