is this normal

i had a baby sept 25th, during labor i had an epidual that was not done properly, they had to redo it a second time, 24 hours later...i ended up needed and emergency c-sec...since then, i have had serious back pain and spasms that go all the way up to the base of my head, they are getting worse and are starting to get more frequent. i have an appt with a dr sat, but i am getting more scared that something is not right. i understand pain can last for quite a while, but after going to immediate care today they told me these spasms are not normal, and they are limited to my spine...any input would be appreciated..thanks

I also wish I had some answers for you, but I do know if it were me, I would not wait until Sat. to see a Dr.  I would be seeking medical advice right away.  It just doesn't sound like something you should take a chance with.  I wish you all the best.

Every now and again I can feel a pinch in the spot they stuck me. I don't know if it's from my epidural 2 years ago or the spinal 5 months. I think a bit of what I feel is normal but for sure yours sounds much worse :( So sorry, hope you get well soon.

There can be some long-term side effects of epidural/ spinal anaesthesia.

I hope your symptoms have a simple explanation and recover quickly, and hope your doctor can assist.

I was told that it can take 3 months after an epidural to recover from any "collateral damage" that might have occured.

I had spinal anaesthesia for laparotomy/appendectomy last 17 July 08.  I have a large numb patch on my right thigh that I am sure will not go away any more (initially it was very painful, but at least the pain has regressed to numbness/dull sensation).  I am terrified of having another epidural and having that sort of thing happen again.  So I guess I won't be getting an epidural when i have my baby next Feb.

Let us know how you go.  Hope you feel better soon.
