leg cramps

I am 37 weeks. For the last 3 days I have been experiencing Charlie horse like cramps on both legs, upper thighs/inner thighs. I thought maybe dehydration but it's consistent every night at the same time. What's going on?

I've been getting them too, I've gotten so used to them that I automatically pull my foot up to stop them in my sleep. I hardly wake up now when I get them lol. I just started getting a new one, it's on the outside of my ankle and pulls my foot out, it's so awkward :(

My Dr also said magnesium supplements might help. Stretch your legs before you go to bed by standing facing the wall and putting your toes on the wall to stretch out your foot and calves. She also said that some purple swear by putting a bar of the Irish soap in between their sheets at night. Good luck, I hope you find some relief I have been having the same problems. The best thing is eating a banana or 2 a day

You can also buy potassium supplements but they usually don't have enough and you end up taking a bunch.... easier to eat bananas

Pregnancy depletes potassium. If you eat one or two bananas everyday they should stop. That happened to me later on with my other 2 pregnancies. So far I haven't had that problem but I am only 16 weeks.

There is an ointment call Leg Cramps that you can buy to help ease that annoying leg cramps we suffer from, but eating bananas and keeping hydrated helps. I used to get the 3 and 4 times a night, my poor husband got no sleep lol. Hope that helps.

When cramps occur, what direction are your feet? I've realized with my cramps, my feet are extended & my toes are pointed down, but if I quick pull my toes upward towards my shin, then the cramp goes away or stops right away. Not sure if they will help, but might be worth a shot. Another thing that helped stopped my leg cramps was drinking Pedialite. Great source of electrolites without the sugar!
