Trying to Register and I'm a Complete Idiot.. Some Help?

Hello!

So, I'm trying to register for my upcoming baby shower, and this is my second baby, but I'm totally clueless as to what to do about bottles and such. I've completely forgotten, and I remember my first experience was a bit of a mess. I got the wrong things and not enough of anything anyway.

With my first, I got the entire Avent system and had a miserable experience with them.  They were fine once he got old enough to hold his own bottle but he didn't like anything about them when he was a newborn.  I remember trying Playtex drop ins at one point and those worked really well when he was just newborn.

Soooo... If I went with Playtex Drop Ins, how many 4 oz bottles and how many 8 oz bottles should I register for?  How many drop in liners will I need for each size to get started?  Also, I assume I need some sort of breast milk storage kit, which I think Playtex makes for the Drop Ins, but... I think I need like... several of them because they don't have many adapter rings?  Not sure on that one.  How many bottle nipples do you think I'll need to start out with and what flows?

I'm going to assume Playtex Drop Ins work fine with formula as well as breast milk, because I vaguely remember using them with my son when he was little and he only breastfed for about 4 days.  I must have been able to mix the formula ok in the preformed liners, or am I delusional?

Also, is there an electric warmer that works with the Playtex Drop Ins or do you have to set it in warm water to thaw from the freezer?

Sorry for all the questions, but as I was looking online through all this registry information, I was utterly clueless on the bottle situation!

Thanks for any advice in advance!

Sheri

The two books I like so far, that helped me register, are Baby Bargains and Parenting magazine's Baby must-haves.  you can buy both or check them out at your library.

As for bottles, I was told to hold off on getting a bunch b/c your baby will decide which nipple/bottle system he or she will like.  Each baby is different. However, two of my friends (and a mom in the store) highly recommended Playtex Venti-air bottles. Another swears by Aventi but that was after she bought too many of another kind and found that her son didn't like those, so she had to go and buy all new ones in a different model! and yet another friend said her baby liked the cheapie bottles the best!

I registered for 3-4oz bottles and 3-8oz bottles for now.  I didn't bother with extra nipples.

I also have a few bottles and 2 nipples from Medela (a good friend gave to me) that will  work with my breastpump.

In my opinion, bottles are one of the least expensive items that I needed to register for, so if I need another type, I will just go and get them once the baby comes.

Also, if you do get tons of bottles, don't open them all at once just in case you might need to exchange unopened ones for a different ones.

I hope this helps!
