bleeding at 40 weeks pregnant

Today is my due date.  For the last 24 hours i have had a bloody discharge.  I lost my mucus plug about 2 weeks ago and I took this as an early sign of labor but I have not started having contractions.  I am getting concerned.  Anyone else experianced this before and how long was it till you actually went into labor?

It could be anything from a Micah's show to placenta detachment. It's best to ALWAYS call your Dr or go to the hospital this far along.

If it is continual or increases I would get checked out. While it may be just your bloody show it could also be a problem with your placenta.

It's probably your "bloody show." So you are close to labor. Timing can vary from a few hours to even a day or two. You should call your doctor just to let them know about the bloody discharge. They may have you check in with labor and delivery to see if you are dilating, prior to having contractions. It doesn't necessarily mean you will be admitted right away, but they can check on your progress. I would expect you'll be holding your baby not too long from now. Good luck, but do still call your doctor today.
