Thanks that's so reassuring. I had grand mal fits since I was 14 they are not pleasant but as u say are controllable thank god :)
His diabetes is controlled aswell so both lucky just not been blessed I guess but hope I will get there.
I think a lot of us who have children in our mid thirties and up worry a bit about that. My husband and I will both be 43 this month and have a child that turns 2 this month. I worry about us passing away and him being left on his own. However, I think I would worry about that if we were 23 or 33 as well.
Here is what I believe...we are living longer lives now. We do our best to be healthy, fit and active (not hard with a young toddler..lol). It is not unusual anymore to live into your 80's and even well into your 90's. Our son inspires us to live a healthy and active lifestyle.
If you are more worried because of the specific illness'? Diabetes and Epilepsy can be kept well under control through medication, and with diabetes, exercise and diet as well. My mom is Grand Mal Epileptic and has been seizure free for many many years...at least 20 now. She goes to her annual check up with the neurologist, takes her medication, and is active and healthy at 65. I fully expect to have her around for many many years to come.
Having children a bit older is like any other time....there are pro's and con's. It's something every couple has to decide for themselves, but I can tel you that my husband and I have no regrets. Best of luck in making your decision.
