I was born without a thyroid and have been on medication for it my whole life. With my first baby my milk hardly came in and I had to pump forever with the heavy duty hospital pump just to get an ounce. My boy was in the NICU for 5 days so he never really got to nurse. The lactation specialists told me that since I don't have a thyroid not to count on nursing, because the milk just isn't there
Anyway, my question is if anyone else has had similar experiences with their milk not coming in because of their thyroid, or if I was just given bad advice. I'm 19 weeks now and my boobs are the same size they've always been, no real tenderness or signs of milk thinking about coming in.
