10 kicks per hour?!

I just turned 29 weeks today and the video indicated that you should feel baby 10 times per hour. I dont feel this every hour and my OB never mentioned having to reach this...is this accurate? Are most babies thia active? Im on mu feet all day but as soon as i relax baby moves..

The 10 kicks an hour thing isn't an accurate measurement to follow, if you go on the countthekicks.co.uk website they have loads and loads of advise on how to count kicks and how to tell what is normal, some babies kick alot more than others, as long as your baby is kicking a similar amount each day that's normal.

My doctor doesn't even ask for kick counts. They just ask if baby is moving well.

It's 10 kicks/movements per hour when the baby is kicking. Not 10 kicks every hour. Every baby is different though.. I'm 39 weeks and some hours she'll kick 15 times some hours I count up to 50 in 10 mins and give up counting. Try to keep track of when baby kicks and how much, you'll notice patterns and if it changes to much you can always call your Dr. That's what they are there for!

You arent going to feel it every hour. The exercise is to stop, take an hour, drink some cold sugary drink, lie on your left side and count until you have 10 movements. It should be within an hour or two tops. That's a good indicator that your baby is healthy and doing well. Anytime you feel concerned you can do that to check in on baby. It takes an hour or two because baby may be sleeping a lot when you check so she may not respond for a while. Its a standard kick count. You don't have to do it every day especially if you have a normal pattern and know baby is behaving normally and moving as she usually does throughout the day.

It also depends on whether your baby is face in or facing out to whether you'll feel the kicks. Everything jahawr89 said is what my OB has me do, but I am high risk.

Every woman and every baby is going to be different so don't worry. Walking and moving can rock baby to sleep so that's why you probably don't feel it as much plus you may not be paying attention. What's important is that you do feel it when you lie down. If not eat/drink something and lie down and try again. If that doesn't work wait a couple hors and try again. Best of luck x

10 kicks per 2 hours starting in the third trimester. You're suppose to pick the most active time of the day and count at that time each day. Also make sure baby is awake first. Try drinking ice water or having some fruit and laying down. It'll give your little one an energy boost.

Countthekicks.org is a good sight with lots of info.

Pretty sure that is inaccurate. It changes from person to person too I think because I might feel my baby 10 times throughout a whole day even in the last couple months! And this is my third pregnancy.

That maybe why you don't feel the baby. But yes 10 kicks an hour.
