I was terrified with my first, it went so smoothly though this time I'm almost a little to casual about it.
With my first I walked in three days past my due date with broken water and no contraction. My nurse was awesome she stayed with me almost all day, offered me an epidural when I started cussing and 12 hours after they started contractions with picton I had my gorgeous daughter in my arms.
It's scary but that's normal, the nurses are there to make it easier for you. Just be nice to them and they will go out of their way to be nice back.
If you don't sleep well away from home I suggest you pack your own pjs and pillow and maybe a blanket for your bed. They provide blanket and everything but taking something that reminds you of home makes it nicer.
If your in pain dooooo not hesitate on the epidural. Ive made the mistake thinking i could do with out . And even waited long enough that i had two naturally. This time i feel a cramp im getting it lol. As soon as i had the baby though all the pain disappeared and all i could do was fall completely in love with the beat gift in the world ! Its all worth is 100% !
Aww hun you will do great! Do you have a birth plan? This is my 3rd pregnancy and I recommend the epidural if at all possible. I think it helps make the experience so much more enjoyable. I have had one with and one without. I think it is helpful to have two people you really want to share the experience with picked out and made aware cause what really upset me with my 1st is the number of relatives who would take turns coming in and out of the room while I was in labor. Lesson learned!! Lol The 2nd time I chose my mama and my SO that's it everyone else can wait! I also recommend you ask people NOT to visit the very first day except those closest it is hard to rest with constant visitors and you need that time to recoop for when you get home. I will also add that those nurses/drs/midwife whichever route you chose do this literally ALL the time! They know what they are doing you can trust them they are going to walk you through every step of the way. Not to mention women do this on a daily basis and if they can do it so can you! You have already created a tiny human being in just 9 months!! You are amazing!! You can do this and you have nothing to be scared of! This is the easy part! Honestly, WITH the epidural this is the easy part! Without the epidural it isnt so easy BUT it is doable only lasts a short time! It is the easiest pain in the world to foret because once they put that little miracle in your arms you wont even remember it! Keep us posted! Let us know how it goes! I bet you do an amazing job!
I went in thinking "challenge accepted".
I had heard some bad labor stories from women who were having a baby before me but I didn't think anything of it, I knew each birth is different. I told my midwife that I don't want an epidural, though she told me to keep it as an option, just in case. I didn't want it, because I wanted to feel what it felt like. Well,I did and I thought that I was going to die at least twice. But, needless to say, I didn't.
Midwife broke my water around half 7 pm after the labor had begun at 5 pm, at least according to my contractions, which I didn't even feel until my water broke. I tried being in a pool but that unfortunately didn't work out. I laid down on the bed, found a good position right away (somehow your body just knows how to be) and around half 11pm I was holding my princess.
Just remember that each birth is different. You have good people around you who will support you through it. It's alright to be scared but I tell you: you can do it! Sure it will be the most difficult thing you've ever done but what comes after is the most beautiful thing in the world.
Good luck. :)
I delivered a healthy (but chubby) baby boy at 10 lbs. 14 oz. 20.5 inches via C-section. It was a wonderful experience and I am healing nicely, feel great, have no trouble standing up, walking or going to the bathroom myself and I get to take my beautiful baby home today. Never been happier. :)
My first pregnancy my water broke but no contractions. Few hours later drank a castor oil shake that my midwife gave the recipe for. Two hours later my contractions started at 8pm. I rocked back and forth on the edge of my bed in the dark til 11:30. Went to the birthing inn and was 7cm dilated, took a shower and got in the tub and had my girl at 1:14am. I did all natural and right after I said I would do it again. Here I am 29weeks and waiting for my boy. Natural birth isn't for everyone but I had a completely healthy pregnancy and I did a lot of research. Its what I wanted for both me and my baby.
I felt the same way. Labor and delivery freaked me out! I got an epidural when I got to the hospital. Wasn't able to sleep through the night (just the way I am away from home). Ended up having an emergency c-section because Baby's heart rate was dropping every time I pushed. It all ended really well. I was praying the whole time :o) Still nervous with this one but now I have a lot more confidence in myself and in the doctors.
Im currently 30+3 with baby #7 i am more nervous now then ive ever been With any others i don't know why but my labors are only about 4 hours an thats what helps me knowing it will all be over soon it wont last forever. Good luck!
