28 weeks & my roommates daughter owns a pet mouse and two gunuiea pigs??

I'm so worried about LCMV is a wierd disease that wild rats/rodents can carry and pass to pet rodents. I personally never would even own a rodent as a pet but this 8 year old seems to love them I'm just worried because this LCMV can be very dangerous for a mother and baby and even a child under 5 years old. It causes difficulties in pregnancy which I obviously do not want any complications.  anyone else have been pregnant and owned pet rodents?? Or know what this silly disease is??? please write back

As long as you aren't handling them you're fine. Not all rodents posses the risks but obviously you don't want to take the chance. But since you don't touch them you're fine.

Stay away from the feces and don't touch them.

I keep many exotics and to be honest when I go in to do feeding or maintenance I wear gloves and a mask if it's dusty

You would be fine if you stay away from then aren't handling them or cleaning up after them. With rodents most of the stuff they would carry they would have to bite you to pass it on.
