28w and kittens Help

OK so... I have never worried before. I got 2 kittens that are 5 weeks and there's all this scare bout Toxoplasmosis. I am the only one here besides my 6yr old. I emptied the litter box today and washed it out.

Question is do I need to worry? People talking has me that way. I dont want to give up our kitties especially just getting them.

Please help!!!!!

Toxoplasmosis is only a worry for cats that eat mice or are outdoor cats. My aunt is a vet and has two kids and two cats. She said indoor and vaccinated cats are fine and youd literally have to touch their poop n lick your hand to get it. Vax your new pets and just wear gloves if it makes u feel better.

You can't breath it in its only by skin contact.

I was told to sprinkle baking soda over the litter, :)or there's organic litters that use mulch or wood chips instead I read a study that the litter is actually a toxin in itself and it can harm you and the animals so I'm switching over to a mulch based litter it's only $2 more and it doesn't smell as bad

Just   wear a mask or bandana so you dont breathe it in also helps with the smell and wash hands dont touch face

I agree with Mrs__ ^^ , my 6 year old does the litter box duty also, so you can teach yours . An you shouldn't be changing it at all during pregnancy it's also breathing it in that can harm you

With kittens you're probably going to be alright with precautions. But honestly, my 6 year old cleans the cat box and I don't see why yours can't.

I'm 21 weeks and have 2 cats and my husbands on deployment and I hsve no family near so I'm in the same boat. My midwife told me to wear gloves snd wash with wsrm soapy water sfter and you should be fine.
