36 weeks with intense back pain

I'm 36 weeks along ( only 25 more days till due date) and lately my back has been feeling like someone is taking a sledgehammer to it and my belly feels like it's numb ( kinda like when you leg falls asleep, gets all pins asleep needles like) and rock hard. Could this be asleep sign I'm in early labor? This is my first so I have no idea what contractions feel like.

The numbness sounds like Braxton Hicks contractions. Mine happened like that if I walked more than 5 minutes at a time. Try having warm baths for the back pain, and maybe splurging on prenatal massage? You can also try pelvic tilts while on all fours. It can help.

I'm looking forward to the answer to this because I'm having the same issues.
