Also, they can't do anything to you without your consent if you are conscious and alert. It's called informed consent. If you tell them no, they can try to talk you into it all they want, but as long as you do not say yes, by law, they can't do anything about it. Doctors are very good, however, at getting consent without you realizing it. If they say we are going to have to induce you by this date if nothing is happening, and you say okay, that is giving them consent. You can withdraw that consent at any time before it actually happens. Even if you are at the hospital being prepped for an induction, you can still change your mind. But once that needle goes in, it's too late. Just a little FYI.

Request weekly non-stress tests instead of being induced to evaluate how the baby is handling staying in. If baby is doing fine and you are doing fine, there is no need for an induction.

Sorry if that first post sounded a bit harsh. I'm under a lot of stress and I'm a bit hypersensitive at the moment! Haha

Then tell your doctor no!!! You CAN still go into labor even without being even a little dilated or effaced before the first contraction! Neither one tell you anything about labor being imminent! I hate when doctors threaten an induction for such irrational things. Your body will do what it needs to do when it's ready. The problem is that an induction using pitocin can't even guarantee your body to go into labor, but once it is given, you are then considered high risk, which dramatically increases your chances of "needing" a c-section! If they schedule you for an induction, simply 'miss' the appointment. Your doctor may not like it, but he/she is not the one who has to live with the consequences.

I'm using my birthing ball exercises. Baby has dropped and my cervix is finally doing something. Squats, pelvic tilts, walking, nipple stimulation, sex, etc...

Sex, prostaglandin released in sperm help start things along. If you aren't over 40 weeks and you don't have anything wrong with baby (Lga) or you  (high bp) I'd ask not to be induced. But I really am against interventions.

I personally don't think anything will start it til it's ready to happen.
But, spicy food, walking and pineapple are supposed to help
