5 weeks 4 days pregnant ultrasound but nothing found

Hi everyone, I went through first iui on 4th april then did my first blood draw on 18th april. My hcg was 10.5 and progesterone 0.89 so given the low levels the nurse got concerned that pregnancy won't survive. I was put on endometrin supplement But since then my hcg levels have been monitored evey 48hrs and this is the result.

18th: 10.5
20th: 35.2
22nd: 132
24th 403
26th: 954

After that I was asked to do an ultrasound on 28th as it would have been 5 weeks 4 days. Ultrasound found nothing. But my hcg levels on 28th went to 1887. So they have asked me to come back for ultrasound one week later and also continue monitoring hcg levels every 48hrs. One of nurse scared the hell out of me by saying that normally in this situation it results in ectopic pregnancy. So I am super worried and I have been crying. Please share your experience so that I know what to think. P.s: I am the husband who is posting as I want to keep my wife out of this so that she is emotionally stable. Would appreciate any help.

So sorry! We lost a baby in May and it was helpful to give a name. We chose a girl's name. God bless your family.

Update from hcg test today: its all over for me. My hcg went down from 1887 to 637 in last 48hrs. I am completely devastated. It was a very tough 5 weeks. I can't stop crying. But thanks for all support.

With my first two babies (not twins, two pregnancies :)  ) I went in to get an ultrasound at what I thought would be about 5-6 weeks and they couldn't see anything at all. Apparently my ovulation was off schedule. Two weeks later we could see them perfectly fine. I really hope it's the same for you. Oh and I also always had light spotting after the ultrasounds.

The spotting could be just caused from have the ultrasound vaginally and that's a good sign that it's stopped. Sometimes you can have mild cramping just make sure you are drinking plenty of water to stay well hydrated bc if you aren't then it can make you cramp a little.

Yes this is my first pregnancy. The spotting has stopped now. I don't know what's happening. I will be visiting doc tomorrow for another hcg test so will discuss about spotting as well.

You should speak with your doctor. They will have the advice that you need. 5 weeks is still very early to tell what is going on. Is this your first pregnancy?

So they did check ovaries and tubes and abdomen - no sign of sac. Ovaries were normal and found one cyst on right side ovary. Still at the end nurse said in her experience such cases eventually results in ectopic pregnancy - so I am freaked out.

Another development since yesterday u/s and hcg test - I am having mild cramp in lower abdomen and lower back pain. This morning I saw vaginal red blood spots. This is all happening after nurse shared her experience. So I am very freaked out now. Am I going to miscarry? Is the light bleeding normal at 5 weeks 5 days...?

The only thing you would be able to see at 5/weeks would the the sac the baby is in the baby at this time is only the size of a pen tip. It is a good sign the HCG is going up instead of down. And they always should check your overies and tubes when you have an ultrasound so I don't know why they didn't check for an ectopic pregnancy at the ultrasound. Hope all goes well and stay positive.

That's likely too early to see anything.

I'm not sure why the nurse is giving her opinions...that's not exactly legal. Anyways, her hcg is rising well, but that's scary low progesterone. I'd wait for another scan before even guessing ectopic...it's still really early!
