6weeks pregnant no heartbeat

went for my first ultrasound Monday I was 6 weeks and they could not find heartbeat. The doctor said its normal bc I was just 6 weeks & measuring 5 weeks 5 days.  He went over everything with me on the ultrasound saying it looked good and he could see the yolk sac and fetal pole. This is my first pregnancy so im nervous.  My other friends saw their child at 6weeks.  Any advice?

I had to hold my breath at 7 weeks to see the heart beat. It was a white spot in the middle of the sac.

I was in the same boat. I was actually booked today for my dating scan and I am 6w 5d. However saw midwife for first time today and she said there was no point going so early as unlikely to see anything and it would make me stress so she said go back in a couple of weeks and I will definitely see something. So I am re-booked for 2 weeks time :-)

Well, your baby doesnt look like a baby until further along... my first ultrasound, I was 7 weeks and 4 days, and it just looked like a big sac... I go back next Wednesday, but I will be 13 weeks and 5 days. Heartbeat sometimes doesnt show up so early. Your baby could be facing the opposite way, for example. Don't worry! You won't be able to hear it on the doppler either until later, between 10-12 weeks. So, as long as the little sac showed up, no worries :)

They might have seen the heart beat in their sixth week, but unless they knew exactly when they ovulated (or if they had IVF and knew the exact count) they could really not be sure that it was at 6 weeks 0 days.  I think the doctor is smart to point out to you that the baby's heart doesn't begin to beat until right around that time.  If you are measuring 5 weeks 5 days, that is too early for a heart to begin to beat.  Try to relax, it sounds like everything is fine.
