Belated Birth Story Post

I had my daughter on Father's Day at 1:38am, first one born that day at the hospital!

My water broke at 6:40 sat night. I packed my bag, went out to eat, timed contractions at the table!, got to hospital at 9,got a room at 930. An epidural shortly after that. Started pushing at 1230... Never told anyone we were there, didn't post anything. Had her all to ourselves all night. She slept on my chest. Had a dream delivery! Quiet, peaceful, calm, relatively quick, and private. Made father's day announcement that afternoon.

Here's some of the wives tales we did that "worked" and came "true" ?? for those who wonder. Coincidence or real, who knows, but here's what I did...

*EPO at 36 weeks, upping dose every week -- I didn't have an episiotomy this time and My cervix was very favorable condition unlike with my son who was a week late and I never dilated, even on meds, and I was in labor with him for 24 hrs (pushing for last 2)

*Bounced on medicine ball everyday after 36 weeks.

*Had sex every night, orgasm and semen included!

Tried to conceive a girl, by having sex ahead of ovulation so the 'female sperm would outlive the males' -- we had a girl.

I had heartburn and reflux like you wouldnt believe-- she had head of dark hair!

The night before my water broke, I had two tablespoons of castor oil in OJ. Had contractions, not sufficient for labor, fell asleep. Next afternoon, had one more tablespoon. Water broke 3 hrs later.

Who knows if any of this works, did anything, or was just placebo for peace of mind of trying. Regardless, I would not change a thing.  I do believe my body and baby were ready though.  Was measuring big, always had braxton hicks, soft cervix early on, etc.

Been nice chatting with you ladies. Good luck to you all with your deliveries. Hope summer weather isn't being too harsh on you !!
