Do I wash new clothes?

So I heard someone say that new clothes should be washed before a baby can wear it.... I'm a FTM so idk if I should or not since I won't know if my baby would react a certain way to the detergent I use. Help?

Ftm and I just removed all the tags from clothes and bedding set I bought to wash them. I'm 31 weeks but I want to be ahead and ready for this baby. A lot of people touch babies clothes while they shop, especially if they are just on hangers. I want it all to be clean and sanitized. Brand new doesn't necessarily mean that it is, and my baby's well being and health is what matters the most.

I washed all baby's clothes in All baby detergent.  Not very expensive.   It's the white bottle with pink lid.   Has a nice mild clean scent too

If you are extremely concerned about detergents just wash clothes in vinegar and baking soda. Just fill the washer add a cup of vinegar and baking soda. It's completely natural and safe for the skin.

Yes! Wash it with fragrance free detergent, even my son who is 4 had an allergic reaction to a new shirt I put on him without washing it, I can't imagine how many people touches the same clothes, drop it, return it, etc... It's better to be safe than sorry

My son is allergic to EVERYTHING but new clothes have dye and chemicals from the machines and packing places on them. If worried about the baby's skin always start with a unscented un dyed option. I use tide the white bottle. Neither of my kids could tolerate dreft either. Also I would recommend washing the babies clothes separate from yours. We have oils and pathogens on us that may last threw the wash and stick to their clothes and irritate them. But again my son is allergic to EVERYTHING so you might not have to be quite so careful.

Agree with above comment. Even though the clothes look clean from stores doesnt mean they are. If ur concerned about baby having a skin reaction try a more mild detergent. Both my kids were allergic to baby dreft because of the perfume scent in it so i switched to ALL free and clear. Its dermatoligist recommended and price isnt bad. Like $7 at walmart. The white bottle.
