Drank after miscarriage but wasn't a miscarriage! Did I damage my baby???

At 17 wks pregnant, I fell down the stairs. Later that day, I found out my father had passed away. That evening I started with bad cramps and bleeding.  My doctor said it sounded like a miscarriage. My husband was away on business and I had no one to mind my son so I waited until morning to go to the hospital. Thinking I'd lost my baby and father in same day, that evening before I went to hospital, I drank a bottle and half of wine. The next morning I had no bleeding, no cramps, a hangover, and when I went to hospital, the baby was still there!!! Doctor said everything looks fine but I can't imagine mentally it would be- if I drank a bottle and half of wine, wouldn't that be enough to damage this poor baby? My question is, at 17 wks pregnant, did a cause brain damage to this poor baby from binge drinking the one occassion? I am horrified, disgusted, and panicking. Please no judgemental comments- I'm sick enough over this.

I wouldn't stress your self I'm sure your baby is absolutely fine.
I was in Vegas getting married and drinking for a week unaware I was 2 months pregnant. I drunk way more than you and my daughter was fine. I was upet when I found out I'd been pregnant and drinking too but my midwife quickly put my mind at rest saying it was a mistake made by a while lot of people who go on to have a healthy baby and ladies shouldn't punish themselves for something they didn't do intentionally. ☺

I think I would self medicate too if I was all alone thinking I lost my baby and my father in the same day. And in the evening sounds to me like after child had gone to bed.

Jenn, the bigger question here is you drank a bottle and a half of wine while supervising your son alone.  That's about 5 drinks in one evening,  alone.

It's unlikely that one episode will damage your unborn baby,  but that behavior is a concern.

Best wishes.

I didn't find out I was pregnant with my second daughter till I was 3 months an I drank quite often until I found out. An she is perfect in every way. 1 time will not hurt your baby just think positive.

Don't worry I drank when I was about 2 weeks pregnant I also didn't know. I had jeigermeister, jeiger bombs, a fifth of jack Daniels, fireball, bud light, dos Equis, and those frozen margaritas you get in Vegas. I drank cause I was in Vegas for the weekend, the next 2 weeks is when I missed my period. But my midwife said everything was fine. So don't feel bad. I still am disappointed with myself but I didn't know. Plus it was too early to test for it.

Talk to your dr, they will understand. But most midwives will say a glass or 2 of wine is OK occasionally. Fas is caused by continuous drinking during  pregnancy.  Not one night

Don't freak out! I drank some before I learned I was pregnant. My baby is fine. So is my oldest son. I drank before I found I was pregnant with him too. Not much but like 2 glasses of something. It will be ok.
