Do new born babies eat a lot during the night ...

It varies with each child. Both of mine slept through the night right away, I didn't wake them up to feed them. With my oldest being a ftm I listened to his pediatrician and tried to wake him up every 2hrs, but he would just go right back to sleep as soon as he latched on.

I stopped waking my daughter up at 3weeks b/c she was hard to put back to bed and she slept through the night. I just fed her more during the day. Ask your Dr but mine told me babies should have so many oz for every lb they are for 24 hrs. I want to say it was 2.5 oz per lb. So when my daughter hit 10lb she should have 25oz for the day. I found that as a helpful guide.

Every baby is different but for the first few weeks the will eat every 1 to 2 hours. This also depends whether they are on formula or breast milk.
