Electronic Cigarettes?

I've been trying to quit smoking and have had a hard time. I did go from 2 packs a Fay to less then 10 but I really want to completely quit. I asked my doctor and she said shed prefer me use the patch, gum, e-cigarette or anything other than smoking. I bought  e-cigs, the lowest dose Eldorado 2 cartridges then no nicotine for the rest. Has anyone else tried e cigs while pregnant and successfully quit?

I am happy for you and certain you'll make it. It's a huge thing to come to ten cigarettes after two packs so no worries you'll make it. ;)  might not be the healthiest thing (the e-cigarette or normal ones) but after two packs I think it's smart to take your time.
you're doing a great job! ;)

Hypnotherapy works wonders!! I quit several years ago with it. But it's that
The same as anything else...you have to commit to it. You also need to change your habits (i.e. find a healthy habit to do after a meal like a short walk), drink water if you crave one, find something to do with your hands (eat sunflower seeds, eat a lollipop), and most importantly, think of all the reasons you're quitting. Don't allow yourself to say I really want a cig. Change it to I really don't want a cig because... out of all of those suggestions some worked for me, some didn't. The last one is the most important. Good luck

Also....this study and report shows the FDA claims e cigs are less harmful then regular cigarettes. Here is the link to the study and broadcast made by the FDA in July 2014.

the study from Japan you posted is discussing the New TANK e cigs which I'm not using. I'm not trying to argue....I appreciate the information....however...there are just ALOT of conflicting reports out there so I feel I'm just going to go on my doctors recommend and not smoke anything within 2 weeks. I've already not had a smoke today or nicotine and that's that the first time I've went without in 10 years. Thanks though! Good luck to everyone!

Thank you everyone. So far today no nicotine at all!!!! That's the longest I've been so far. And I've only used the e cig 3 times (no nicotine cartridges though). Thanks so much!

I appreciate your feedback...and I too have read the studies. I am aware that e cigs are not FDA approved and neither are tobacco cigarettes. However, there are conflicting studies out there....some say it's more harmful....others say less...which is the problem. I can't take welbutrin and the patches and gum increase my blood pressure. I need to quit but can't cold Turkey ao this is what was recommended and this is what I wanted to try. I appreciate the concern but I've heard positive things from both physicians and friends that have used this method to quit while pregnant. I'm going to go with the lesser of 2 evils And hopefully not be smoking anything within the next 14 days. Thank you.

This study is backed by the world health organization. I would rather smoke real cigarettes than expose my unborn child to 10x's the amount of chemicals in those things

Even if your doc recommended it, up until now there has been no medical study. They have no clue what's in them. I will try to see if I can put a link here to the study

Thanks ladies. @Frey- my doctor is the one that recommended e-cigs instead of the patch. I didn't want to take welbutrin. The I've been trying to quit smoking and have had a hard time. The e-cig I'm smoking has zero nicotine so it can't have more than a cigarette does when there is none. I'm planning on not using anything in 2 weeks. Anything is better than actually smoking and my doctor recommended and gave me the go ahead. We shall see how it goes. Thanks for your support ladies!

sorry, was a bit long...but to answer to your question - yes, it helped me to stop! I took one with a bit less nicotine, then none..and finally stopped. good luck and if you are at ten, you're on a right track. ;)

I was a smoker and few months before I got pregnant I started with e-cigarette. it's not the same but has it's advantages. personally, I don't feel comfortable smoking that either (especially while being pregnant) - I did take the one without nicotine but still..can't be very healthy or natural...so I don't smoke anything. considering I was really passionate about smoking I never said to myself - ok that's it, this is my last..blah blah..and honestly this works for me. I know I can have a cigarette if I really want it and that my baby would be jut fine and knowing that I can makes it more as a daily choice than something forbidden. Also...they say it's very unhealthy for both of you to stop so suddenly, so go slow and you'll get to ypur goal. (e-cigarette might be a good way for you from smoking to stopping ;) )

I ate sunflower seeds when I had the urge to smoke... surprisingly it worked and I haven't smoked in four months! Good luck

They literally just released a study today and e-cigs and vapor pens have 10x's the amount of carcinogens regular cigarettes do!! Ask for the patch your doc will give it to you

Thank you all so much for your feedback. @ Shelane- congrats on quitting. Yes I know how bad cigarettes are. I was not trying to conceive...actually....if truth be told....we were actively trying NOT to conceive but hey....it happens right lol. Had we been trying I would have quit first but here we are. I'm starting e cigs today and hoping to stop those by Christmas at the latest. Thanks so much for your feedback everyone.

I used the ecig to quit. I just took some hits off it when I had my triggers like driving and after meals. I quit smoking ciggarettes in 2 days and the e cig in about 2 weeks.

Hi there

I'm also a smoker and trying hard to quit. I'm down to between 1 and 3 a day and was contemplating the e cig. That jump from 3 to nothing is huge! Good luck x

I smoked for 12 years, the second we started to try I quit.  I feel like u need to have the mind set of cigarettes or your child then the decision is easy because your child will come first. There are so any things that can hurt your baby from smoking. I don't want to judge because we all hate being judged during pregnancy on any topic. But smoking is so bad and when people ask if I quit I look at them like they are crazy to ask that like I would choose a cigarette over my kid. Of course I quit! Maybe if u get that mind set it will help. Kick it now!
